ODE
On 5 September 2021, we said good bye to the beautiful space we co-created in Wanaka. Our journey’s have taken us to the North Island of Aotearoa where Lucas and Larissa are spending time reconnecting with their individual whanau and whenua in Auckland and Wellington while nourishing their wairua.
While Ode as a restaurant is presently taking a break, Ode as a company is presently involved in providing consulting, mentoring and management support to other businesses within the hospitality industry. Its no secret that we have always loved a good co-lab, so we are pretty stoked on getting to be involved in different and exciting projects while supporting both the next gen and our peers in the industry to thrive.
FOOD PHILOSOPHY
Ode was created as a space for us to collaborate, to grow and generate change.
We honour this intention, through exploring and reimagining New Zealand Cuisine and considering how we are influencing the narrative and norms within the hospitality industry. We care about and respect our environment and our communities, and are conscious of the impact our choices have on them and their long term wellbeing.
We believe that “good food” starts with respecting the integrity of the ingredients - Ingredients that have been produced with attention, consideration & purity. For us, “good food” means sourcing organic, ethical, sustainable, seasonal ingredients & supporting locals who are doing good things.
We create menus that celebrate hyper local organic produce, wild shot game & ethically caught kai moana. We create food that is delicious and filling, yet leaves you feeling connected with te whenua (the land), te maunga (the mountains), te moana (the ocean) and the people who call this beautiful land home.
In our kitchen “good food” means food that excites all the senses, food that is well balanced, textured & ultimately - delicious. Our food is innovative and progressive, and like nature, ever evolving.
Food is our art form and each plate is an ode - to the earth, to family, to the present, the future and all that has lead us to this point.
“The food is thought-provoking, delicious and tells a story of the why, where and now”

“Hearty dishes and perfectly balanced flavours. Food that is not fancy but innovative, food that begins with an ingredient available at its prime and celebrated on the plate”
